The short route

Two days, one night, no wasted hours

The 2D1N exists for travellers who have a single spare night in Labuan Bajo and want the park anyway. It trims the route to the stops that survive a tight schedule: Padar at first light, dragons after breakfast, and a swim before the run home.

Chartering the whole boat for it is USD 8,900. It is the cheapest way to have Neptune entirely to yourselves.

Day by day

How the overnight runs

One night at anchor, two mornings in the water. Order shifts with tide and weather.

  1. Labuan Bajo on Flores, the gateway every Komodo cruise departs from 01

    Day one

Board at midday, anchor by dusk

Boarding at the harbour before lunch, then straight out to the first sheltered stop. An afternoon swim, dinner under way, and the night at anchor within striking distance of Padar.

    • Labuan Bajo harbour
    • Kelor or Manjarite
    • Overnight at anchor
  2. The three bays of Padar Island seen from the summit ridge 02

    Day two

    Padar, dragons, and back alongside

Up before light for the Padar ridge, breakfast back on board, a ranger-led walk among the dragons, then one last snorkel before the run into Labuan Bajo for evening flights.

    • Komodo or Rinca Island

Who takes it

When one night is the right call

It suits a stopover: a couple with two nights in Flores, a group adding the park onto a Bali trip, a family testing whether liveaboard travel is for them before committing to three nights.

What it does not do is the north. Manta Point, Taka Makassar and the Gili Lawa anchorages need the 3D2N or longer. If mantas are the reason you are coming, take the extra night.

Before you book

About the 2D1N

Will we see mantas?

Not usually. Manta Point sits north of the 2D1N loop; it is a 3D2N stop. Book the longer route if mantas are the point.

What flights should we book?

Arrive the evening before at the latest. Boarding is before lunch on day one and you are back alongside on day two in time for an evening flight out.

Is it worth it for one night?

For Padar and the dragons, yes. For the full park, no — that is what the 3D2N is for.

Can we book a single cabin?

Shared departures run on the 3D2N route. The 2D1N is offered as a whole-boat charter.
